A Natural Approach to Back Pain

Stacy chiropractic back pain treatmentChiropractic is based on the concept of allowing your body to naturally heal through spinal adjustments and lifestyle changes that encourage overall health. For Dr. Ulvin, this involves working hard to restore your body's natural performance to prevent the need for drugs or surgery. We see that many of our Stacy patients are pleased to find a natural solution for their health issues.

One advantage of chiropractic is that it helps people reduce or eliminate the use of narcotics. Medications are frequently issued to individuals who have back soreness. This is such a serious concern that the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) issued a news release stating that opioid (painkiller) dangers overshadow the benefits when administered for back pain.

Some of the most common opiates, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, include hydrocodone (Vicodin), oxycodone (OxyContin and Percocet), morphine, and codeine. Statistics offered by the AAN cite the fact that about 50% of the people taking these drugs for a period of three months are still taking them five years down the road. This can further complicate the issue of back pain and recovery, especially if an opiate addiction arises.

Compare that to chiropractic which incorporates natural healing and the advantages are crystal clear. While a pill might be useful at temporarily relieving the discomfort of a health issue, it's not a long-term solution to the problem. Drugs don't fix your damaged back; it will only cover up the pain.

Dr. Ulvin will first examine you to get to the source of your back pain and then work with you to address the spinal interference -- without the need for risky drugs.

If you're ready for relief of your pain, naturally, give our Stacy office a call at (651) 462-3243 to make an appointment with Dr. Ulvin.
